Some Blog Basics
So far, we have not had much success with this blog as a forum for discussion. In part, this may be because some do not understand blogs and how to use them. Maybe the following blog basics will help.
1. Visit the blog regularly by clicking on
2. This blog will consist of posts or initial messages or materials uploaded by blog members for other members to read and potentially react to and comments that members make on the posts.
3. You will probably start by commenting on posts made by others. To add a comment to an existing post, click on "comments" under the post, type your comments, and click "Login and Publish." Your comments will be published along with others.
4. To add a new post, click on "BlogThis!" on the top of the page. This will open a window where you type your message. You can also add a title in the box at the top. The default title is "Inland Consort." You can delete that from the box and in the message area. When you are finished, click on "Publish Post." Your message will be published as the latest post in the blog. You may use the symbols on the top left of the message window to make your text bold, italicized, or both or to add a different color to the font. You can also spell check your message by clicking on the symbol with abc and the check mark. Ironically, when I spell checked this message the program did not know the word "blog" or any of related forms!
5. If you are logged in to the blog, you can edit your profile by clicking on your name listed among the Contributors or members on the top right of the main page. This will open your profile page. If you click on "EDIT YOUR PROFILE," you can change the way your name is displayed, add a picture of yourself, etc.
6. If you want to create your own blog, you may click on "GET YOUR OWN BLOG" on the top of the main blog page. This takes you to the Dashboard, where you can click on "Create a Blog" and follow the instructions.
